Hey, I’m Mike, founder of Polar Recovery, this brand started with a personal need for change.
I was born with Lymphedema, a condition that causes chronic pain and swelling in my legs and has landed me in hospital more times than I can count. The constant discomfort made even everyday activities a struggle. Managing the pain was a daily battle, and while medication helped, I knew there had to be a better way.
the podcast that changed everything
From sceptic to believer
In 2018 while working as a home delivery driver for ASDA, I listened to a podcast with Joe Rogan and Wim Hof raving about cold water therapy. It sounded extreme, almost ridiculous but I was curious. When I got home from work I filled our wheelie bin with water and jumped in. It was brutal but to my surprise something changed. Less swelling. More energy. Clearer mind.
This crazy experiment became a daily ritual, unlocking benefits I never expected.
From Vision to reality
Our Humble Beginnings
For 3 years I used whatever I could for ice baths. By late 2021 there were still no affordable, purpose-built options on the market - just wheelie bins, DIY setups or overpriced baths. It was time to make cold therapy accessible for everyone.
In early 2022 after months of research and trial and error, Polar Recovery was born. I started selling ice baths out of my parents garage (sorry Mum & Dad). My first batch sold out in one week so I decided to go all in with every penny to my name!

What started as my personal journey with ice baths has grown into a global brand. Fast forward to 2026, we have sold over 100,000 ice baths and almost 10,000 saunas, expanded into a modern warehouse, built an incredible team and community of plungers.
